ISG is underway with a further two fast-track projects in South Wales, awarded to the contractor as part of the Cardiff City Framework.
The short lead in time and strict completion deadlines for the projects at Whitchurch School and Fairwater Leisure Centre ideally suit delivery via the council's framework.
At Whitchurch School, ISG is delivering a project to facilitate the move of the Welsh language school into the existing campus as the English-speaking school relocates to a new building. The eight-week, two-phase programme sees ISG install temporary accommodation at the school, including a new nursery and two double classrooms.
The contractor will also partition the school's hall to create additional classrooms, with the school’s music rooms reconfigured to create a headmaster’s office and admin area, so that a planned rebuild programme can begin with demolition of the existing admin block and nursery. The project also includes modifications to the building’s mechanical and electrical services.
ISG is also carrying out a 14-week refurbishment programme at Cardiff’s Fairwater Leisure Centre, work which will be carried out while the centre continues to remain operational. The scheme involves the upgrade of catering provision at the centre from current vending machines to a fully seated cafeteria with a commercial kitchen. The existing bar area on the upper floor will be remodelled to create an 'Active Zone', comprising a gym, and a fitness and dance studio.
