BRE Works With Council On Pilot Community Initiative

BRE and Groundwork West Midlands are working with Birmingham City Council on a pilot community initiative as part of the Green Deal – Go Early programme.

The Birmingham Energy Savers (BES) scheme aims to put community groups at the heart of the Green Deal, enabling them to tackle social and environmental inequalities in their neighbourhood by improving homes and public buildings. Up to 60,000 households across the city are set to benefit from the programme as well as a number of schools and other local authority premises.

BRE has identified 20 community groups in Birmingham to participate in a ‘test and learn’ project where they will receive support and training regarding the Green Deal and learn how to make it work for their community. The groups will then be able to raise awareness amongst other local residents and help them take advantage of the range of Green Deal benefits available to homeowners.

BRE will be working closely with Carillion Energy Services who were recently announced as the preferred delivery partner for the £600 million BES contract.
