The Costain team working on the Dwr Cymru Welsh Water Framework is celebrating after being presented with the 'Highly Commended Award' at the sixth annual Welsh Water Occupational Health and Safety Excellence Awards ceremony held at the Liberty Stadium, in Swansea.
As a prize for winning the 'Highly Commended Award', the team was given £1,000 to donate to a local charity. The team was asked to nominate local causes and it was decided that the prize would be shared between two local charities, Wales Air Ambulance and Clwyd Special Riding School (CSRS), who each received a cheque for £500.
Jane Russell, Centre Manager at CSRS, said: "Our links with local businesses such as Costain are very special to us and it is only with continued support such as this that we are able to make such a difference by providing riding, carriage driving, equestrian vaulting and specialist physiotherapy using a horse, to more than 200 people every week – of all ages and with all additional needs. Sponsorship of our workforce is an enormous financial help to us and covers the day to day upkeep costs, including routine veterinary expenses and the six weekly shoeing costs and we are very grateful for the ongoing help."
