The decision by the Environment Agency to issue a full environmental permit to the Barton Renewable Energy Plant proposal is welcomed by Peel Energy.
Jon England, Peel Energy project manager, said: "The Environment Agency has reached its decision after consulting widely with the local community, key experts and statutory authorities including the Health Protection Agency and NHS Trafford.
"It adds to the considerable weight of evidence put forward during the planning application process to Trafford Council from air quality experts - including Trafford's own independent specialists – that BREP will pose no significant threat to public health.
"The Environment Agency oversees the operations of all such plants in England and Wales and we hope the majority of residents will be reassured by the conclusions reached by the Environment Agency’s health and environmental experts."
