Defuma Carry Out Work On £300k Project

Having already completed a very successful Rail Carriage cleaning system for a leading Rail Passenger Transport company, Defuma where tasked with designing supplying and installing a similar system but on a much larger scale.

The £300k project was to provide 6 cleaning platforms, each 120metres long, with a centralised High Vacuum Extraction System having 16 outlets along each length. Long Vacuum hoses and various Clean-up tools would be utilised for Carriage cleaning as well as maintenance.

The system was needed to cope with all types of detritus associated with passenger transport and maintenance debris including which can be wet or dry.

A requirement was for a fully automated system that negated input from operators and maintenance crew alike. Operators simply plug in their cleaning hoses at any available point to start the system. When the last point is idle the system would automatically shut down. Massive energy savings were achieved as well as providing an efficient working environment.

The system automation extends into the Plant Room, where the heavy items are deposited into skips and the filters are fully self-cleaning, leaving only minimal handling of collected rubbish.

The cleaning system has enabled the end user to improve turn-round times and provide a more efficient and safer working environment.
