Wates Living Space is supporting the Homes for Britain campaign.
Acting as a united voice for housing, it brings together organisations from every part of the sector to put housing where it belongs, at the top of the political agenda.
Homes for Britain, launched by the National Housing Federation in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Housing, Crisis, Home Builders Federation, RIBA and the Residential Landlords Association, secured the backing of every housing organisation hosting an event at recent party conferences, over 40 in total and will continue to lobby government to ensure housing remains a top priority.
Steve Trusler, Strategy Director at Wates Living Space said: "We are all aware of the economic benefits investment in housing can bring, every £1 spent on housing leads to an increase in GDP of £2.84 and each new home built creates 1.5 jobs.
"We were able to support the Homes for Britain campaign through a fringe event, 'Housing the Nation' at the Conservative Party conference with newly appointed Planning Minister, Nick Boles MP. The event in partnership with the Institute of Public Policy Research IPPR) and Orbit saw a highly topical debate on how public and private sector organisations can work together to deliver more affordable homes, and called for more help from the government."
