ISG has won two major refurbishment projects with a total value of £7.3 million as part of Aspire Defence’s contract to deliver the MoD's strategically important 35-year PFI infrastructure project - Allenby/Connaught.
The refurbishment projects, at Tidworth and Aldershot garrisons, add to the 3,500 bedrooms that have already been refurbished by ISG as part of the contract over the past 3½ years.
The £5 million Tidworth project will be the final one to be carried out at the garrison and sees ISG upgrade three existing JRSLA (Junior Ranks Single Living Accommodation) buildings, currently comprising four person and single person rooms, into single person en-suite bedrooms at Mooltan Barracks.
ISG will remodel these buildings in a two phased programme, creating 64 single en-suite rooms in the initial phase, which is due to complete in March 2013. Army personnel will then decant into the newly refurbished rooms, leaving the remaining building vacant for the commencement of phase two, the creation of 72 single en-suite rooms, with final handover scheduled for the end of 2013.
The £2.3 million project at Lille Barracks in Aldershot comprises two schemes within a single programme: a design and build refurbishment of a senior ranks mess and a new build extension to a single living accommodation block for sergeants and warrant officers.
The refurbishment of the senior ranks mess involves upgrades to the public rooms, dining room and the kitchens. The existing sergeants' living accommodation will be remodelled to create two en-suite rooms from every three existing bedrooms, creating a total of 14 en-suite rooms. The project also involves a new mechanical and electrical installation and various upgrades to the fabric of the building. Construction of the new two-storey extension will be carried out concurrently and sees the creation of six new en-suite rooms.
