Artificial Grass For Football Pitch At Joint Service Signals Unit In Cyprus

Well established company Monkhouse Surfaces (F.R.Monkhouse Ltd) were approached directly back in 2011 by the Joint Service Signals Unit in Cyprus in regards to creating a multi use games area in Cyprus. The Greenfield site at the base needed re-developing with a 3G surface suitable for football and also rugby. Monkhouse Surfaces has worked closely with Playrite on various projects over the last few years and immediately thought of their Conqueror range of tufted artificial grass for football, hockey and rugby that is filled with sand and rubber.

The requirements of the Joint Service Signals Unit included a hard wearing, long lasting synthetic surface that was UV stable and that wouldn’t need watering. The pitch had to withstand rigorous use as well as the hot Cyprus sun so Conqueror 60 MF, Playrite's highest performing surface for football, alongside Matchpad 2250 shockpad was the ideal choice. Providing a high performance monofilament polyethylene pile yarn that creates a dedicated 60mm football surface, Conqueror 60 MF offers extra comfort and improved playing performance, meeting FIFA 1 Star equivalent IATS performance standard and EN15330 Part 1.

Squadron Leader Karl McCarthy, 3G Pitch Project Officer who was responsible for the project explained how Playrite together with Monkhouse Surfaces delivered and installed:

"…A first-class pitch for us in Cyprus that was completed on time, in budget and by a friendly team of hard working professionals. They engaged fully throughout the project life cycle, ensuring our specific needs were met."

He continued to explain how he was completely satisfied with the installation and would highly recommend both Monkhouse Surfaces and the surfaces manufactured by Playrite without hesitation.
