A Graduate Engineer's dedication to promoting the construction industry has been rewarded after he scooped a national award.
Rory Jones, a Costain graduate who works on the Costain Dwr Cymru Welsh Water Framework recently won the North Wales CITB- ConstructionSkills Construction Ambassador of the Year Award 2012.
Rory received the title for his commitment to inspiring North Wales' young learners to explore a career in the construction and built environment sector. He has gone into primary and secondary schools to give presentations about opportunities in the industry, undertaken mock interviews with students who wish to undertake a career in the Construction Industry and mentored two summer placement engineers.
Rory said: "This award is recognition of the work that Costain is doing to promote construction as a career. It is also a personal milestone for me and I am honoured to have been chosen as the 2012 recipient, especially when considering the calibre of the other finalists.
"The country is currently going through a tough financial period and our industry is without a doubt suffering! As a consequence, we are currently losing more and more professional people from our industry to overseas projects; therefore it’s more important now than ever, to secure the skills base we need in order to be prepared for future growth within our industry."
