Cruden Construction Helps Build Project For Old Trafford Master Plan

Cruden Construction is working with Registered Provider, Trafford Housing Trust to design and construct the first project as part of the Old Trafford Master Plan.

The Master Plan is the vision of Trafford Council and Trafford Housing Trust and the two organisations are working together to develop a 10 year strategic plan for the area.

As a partner contractor to Trafford Housing Trust, Cruden Construction is delivering the £5.3m scheme at Essex Way, providing 29 houses and 33 two-bedroom flats built for affordable rent.

To mark the strategic importance of the Master Plan to Old Trafford, an official launch was held on site, where a ceremonial stone was unveiled by Trafford Housing Trust's chief-executive, Matthew Gardiner and Councillor Michael Hyman, Trafford Council's Executive Member for Economic Growth and Prosperity.

They were joined by two trust apprentices Corinna Dale and Jack Mitchell, recruited as Masterplan Support Officers. Both were employed specifically to work on the project.

At Essex Way, Trafford Council has provided the land with Trafford Housing Trust financing the scheme, with support from the Homes and Communities Agency's (HCA) Affordable Homes Programme.

Matthew Gardiner, Chief Executive of Trafford Housing Trust, said: "The Old Trafford Master Plan will breathe new life into an area that has experienced under investment and lacks community cohesion. After years of planning, we are delighted to be working with the council to bring our joint vision to full fruition. The stone laying will signify the start of this exciting 10 year project."

Construction of the scheme is scheduled for completion in June 2013.
