Kier has completed the construction of a £9.5m Criminal Justice Centre (CJC) and flagship project for Northamptonshire Police.
The new 55,300sq ft CJC in Northampton Business Park in Brackmills replaces and upgrades cell facilities in Campbell Square in Weston Favell and Wellingborough police stations.
It now provides a 40-cell custody facility that meets latest Home Office design guidance. There is also more than 21,500sq ft of office space for police officers and staff.
Alastair Hamilton from Pick Everard, which provided project and construction design management, and M&E technical advisory services, commented: "Our target was to deliver more than £2m savings by using a robust value engineering and risk management approach and by adopting thorough, efficient tendering processes. The process was extremely successful and we were delighted that the target savings were achieved."
The centre will be fully operational later in September.
