ISG has been awarded a £2 million contract by United Welsh via the Integrate framework to construct a mix of houses and apartments in a central Cardiff location.
The 'Northlands' project builds on ISG’s increasingly strong presence in Wales, and follows the contractor’s recent high profile appointment to build the new National Football Development Centre in Newport for the Football Association Wales. This latest scheme involves the construction of 27 units, all of which have been specified to Code 3 for Sustainable Homes. On completion next summer, the new homes will add to the thriving residential community offering a mix of mainly two-bedroom houses and apartments.
The timber-frame homes will be brick clad and fitted with roof-mounted photo voltaic panels to harness the sun’s energy to provide emission free electricity. Further environmental features include permeable paving to help with drainage and a wide-ranging tree-planting programme. The development will also feature recycling points and cycle racks to promote the use of sustainable transport solutions.
