The main contractor Balfour Beatty Construction working on the Notre Dame High School under the Government financed scheme BSF (Building Schools for the Future) which involves the decentralisation of funds to Local Education partnerships in order to build and improve secondary school buildings appointed the specialist flooring division of Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd the job of installing a RIW sheetseal waterproofing system which was followed by pumping a Ronacrete 8-day overlay screed on top of a 75mm rigid insulation board to create a floating un-bonded screed.
Notre Dame High School is a Roman Catholic all-girl comprehensive situated in Elephant and Castle. The school was originally founded in 1855 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and recently celebrated its 150th anniversary. Girls attend the school from ages 11–16.
RIW Sheetseal is typically used to provide a water vapour barrier in all forms of construction. Typical installations include floor waterproofing, retaining walls and similar uncluttered surfaces. RonaScreed 8-Day Overlay Fast Drying Screed is used to reduce the drying time of cementitious leveling screeds and fine concretes from months to days which allows the early laying and installation of impervious and moisture sensitive floor coverings.
Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd are one of the top specialist contractors based in the UK and have considerable flexibility in meeting the demands of large projects by managing resource capacity across the whole company. Cemplas have further flexibility and capacity through a network of associated contractors working together based on the demands of specific projects. This strategy of in-house staff and
collaborative arrangements is key in an industry of limited resources and often unpredictable schedules enabling Cemplas to maintain the quality, delivery and service expected by their clients.
Cemplas completed the work on schedule, and on budget which was then handed over to Balfour Beatty to their complete satisfaction.
Other specialist flooring operations undertaken by Cemplas include:
•Traditional screeds (Sand Cement): Fast drying and specialist accelerated screeds;
•Polymer modified screeds (SBR): Floor leveling compounds: Granolithic screeds;
•Bonded, un-bonded and floating screeds: Free flowing self-leveling screeds;
•Anhydrite free-flowing self-leveling and self-compacting screeds:
•Screed strengthening for weak and porous screeds: Chemically resistant Screeds.
