The specialist flooring division of Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd were appointed by Whistlers Building Contractors and tasked with refurbishing 3200m2of a commercial Warehouse floor slab.
Preparation work began by removing 20mm of the existing screed by use of road planers. Cemplas operatives followed this up by resin injecting all cracks in and shot blasting the substrate to remove loose particles of cement and sand and expose the aggregate within the sub-floor to provide a mechanical key.
To meet the demands of today’s fast track programmes without compromising on performance Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete repairs Ltd set up a brinkman screed pump in a position that would avoid the exhaust fumes entering building and installed a nominal 20mm of Ronascreed Self Smoothing flow applied industrial floor topping to provide a tough durable floor which can be accessed by foot traffic in three hours, and by light to medium traffic after 24 hours.
The next process was to apply a bond coat or primer coat which is an integral part of the floor topping specification. This was brushed into the surface of the substrate after preparation and damping with water. The Cemplas operative in charge of the mixing pumped the material onto the prepared and sealed/primed surface, and levelled off with a pin rake. Light spike rolling was then undertaken to release the possibility of any entrapped air.
After the Installation of the Ronascreed floor topping, two full coats of Ronafloor EWB two-part water based epoxy resin floor coating was applied as this would provide a tough, hard wearing decorative finish together with good abrasion resistance to foot traffic and light wheeled vehicles.
Cemplas invests in a well equipped and trained workforce and this is one reason why it holds 'Investors In People' Accreditation. Cemplas provide complete solutions from the initial survey through to the effective installation of systems that are worthy of long-term guarantees, which can be insurance-backed if required. Whilst refurbishment and renovation remains a firm backbone for the company’s operational prowess, we have over the years developed into a company carrying out works of all types across a far more varied sector base.
Other specialist flooring operations undertaken by Cemplas include:
•Traditional screeds (Sand Cement): Fast drying and specialist accelerated screeds;
•Polymer modified screeds (SBR): Floor levelling compounds: Granolithic screeds;
•Bonded, unbonded and floating screeds: Free flowing self-levelling screeds;
•Anhydrite free-flowing self-levelling and self-compacting screeds;
