Football legends Mike Summerbee and Tony Book will fix a sign in place on 13 September on a road, which is to be covered in blue tarmac as a tribute to Manchester City's former home in Moss Side.

The road, which runs in front of the Maine Place housing development, has been built on the land where City's Maine Road stadium used to be.

Blue Moon Way by was named by schoolchildren at nearby Divine Mercy Primary, in honour of he the club's famous terrace anthem.

The Maine Place residential will ultimately have more than 300 energy-efficient houses and apartments.

Part of the planned range includes a range of properties named after former City greats like Malcolm Allison, Shaun Goater and Uwe Rosler.

The properties have been developed by Liverpool based Prospect (GB), working with Manchester City Council.

In 2008 Manchester City Council identified new housing as a regeneration priority for Moss Side to meet the needs and aspirations of existing and would-be residents. Currently Moss Side has around 70% terraced housing, which had made it difficult for residents to move into bigger, family homes.
