ISG has been awarded a £2.3 million project to refurbish 25 private patient rooms and create a replacement MRI facility at The New Victoria Hospital in Kingston upon Thames.
The fast-track project involves a wide-ranging programme of strip out, refurbishment and construction activities in a busy, fully operational hospital environment. The en-suite room refurbishments will be carried out across seven individual phases, to mitigate any potential disruption to staff and patients during the upgrade. Work to create the replacement MRI facility will be carried out concurrently, with the scheme scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
The refurbishment programme involves a comprehensive strip out of the patient rooms, and the creation of enlarged high specification en-suite bathroom facilities, with new decorative finishes and floor coverings throughout, and upgraded mechanical and electrical services. The phased project has been designed to ensure that only a maximum of four rooms will be unavailable at any one time during the refurbishment scheme.
To enable the relocation and construction of the MRI facility within the hospital, ISG will install a pre-fabricated extension outside the outpatient reception area, which will house two consulting rooms and a treatment room. ISG will construct a new concrete raft foundation to accommodate the facility, which is being constructed off-site, and install all essential services, providing the hospital with a full turn-key delivery solution. ISG’s remit also includes strengthening works to the new MRI facility.
