Morgan Sindall is continuing to support young workers in the South West by recruiting a new apprentice to work alongside its skilled team in the company's Plymouth office.

As part of the paid apprenticeship, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a BTEC National Diploma in Construction at City College Plymouth, which is funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

The training course runs for three years. The first two years are spent studying the BTEC qualification, followed by a year attaining a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level three in Construction. During this time, the chosen apprentice will gain exposure to various elements of construction work under the guidance of the experienced Morgan Sindall team.

Carl Heslop, South West area manager, said: "We can all remember the people who gave us a helping hand at the start of our careers. If Morgan Sindall can help the next generation of construction workers get their foot on the career ladder, we want to help them get there.

"Young people are especially vulnerable in these difficult economic times as their lack of job-specific skills and work experience can affect their attractiveness to employers. For those young people facing barriers to employment, providing quality work experience can make a real difference, and help them to get one step closer to a job. Morgan Sindall has run an apprentice scheme in the Plymouth office for five years, and has seen many of these apprentices gain permanent employment in the construction industry.
