Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltdwere contacted by our Client Skyswood Management who are the managing agents for this block in St Albans. Our brief was to inspect the concrete staircase leading to the residential flats in block 125–139.
Following a full visual and hammer test survey It was found that the concrete treads and risers were spalling together with the underside of the soffit caused which had been caused by water getting into the steps and railings resulting in corrosion of the steel reinforcement bars.
Further to our survey Cemplas were appointed as the main contractor to undertake full remedial repairs. Our scope of works included removal of the existing tiled nosings, carrying out full Sika Monotop remedial concrete repairs and steel protection. This was followed by mechanical preparation of all surfaces to remove all surface dirt and laitance, and also to provide a key for the Sikafloor floor coating system which Cemplas applied to the staircase treads, risers and landing areas incorporating an anti-slip aggregate. The completed works were finished off by installing new Watco safety edge nosings.
During the programme of work Cemplas erected all necessary fencing, a tower access to the staircase soffit, and a temporary staircase was put in place adjacent to the main staircase Cemplas operatives were working on to allow the residents uninterrupted access their flats.
On completion of the works, Skyswood Management signed off our works and commented that they were extremely happy with their newly repaired staircase and the professional service provided by Cemplas.
Whilst refurbishment, renovation and specialist operations remain a firm backbone for the company's operational prowess, Cemplas have over the years developed into a company carrying out works of all types across a far more varied sector base, and have the capacity and resources to undertake projects in excess of £1,000,000 together with
