Work Starts On Telford's Newest Pub

Work has started on Telford's newest pub restaurant in Lawley Village and the Mayor of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin, Cllr Kevin Guy, cut the first sod on the site.

The pub is scheduled to open early next spring, giving residents of the new Lawley Village neighbourhoods which surround Lawley Square a place to eat, drink and socialise on their doorsteps. It forms part of the new Lawley Square, which is well under way and will be a bustling commercial and community hub. Morrisons supermarket is due to open in November and building work is progressing on other shops, offices and restaurants.

Alongside Cllr Guy, the official ceremony was attended by Steve Roberts, Acquisitions Manager for Marston's; Peter Maddock Senior Project Manager from Henry Davidson Developments, a wholly owned subsidiary of Development Securities Plc; Guy Scott, Project Director of Lawley Village Development Group; and Nicola Marshall, Head of Midlands West from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Steve Roberts from Marston's Inns & Taverns said: "We're delighted that work has started on the new pub restaurant at Lawley Village. We hope the pub restaurant will build a great reputation locally, offering top quality pub food and an unrivalled selection of drinks, including cask ales from across the country."

Lawley Village is one of the largest sustainable urban residential-led developments of its kind in the UK, ultimately providing some 3,500 new homes alongside new retail, commercial, education and leisure facilities.
