Bullock Construction has started work to build the first 32 homes that form part of the regeneration of the Goscote Lane Corridor. The homes are being built on behalf of Walsall Housing Group (whg) with investment from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The development, a mix of two and three bedroom homes at Well Place in Blakenall, has a contract value of £3.3m and whg aims to rent the properties from early 2013.

John Noakes, whg's Development Manager, said: "This site has been derelict for more than seven years. Building this first phase of the development will help to revitalise this part of the Goscote area.

"Following the ‘fabric first’ principle, each home will be super-insulated which means they’ll be cheaper to heat and run for our customers. They will also feature positive input ventilation (PIV). These houses will have improved air tightness to reduce heat loss, the ventilation is critical to ensure that fresh air is drawn into the house to prevent condensation and help the house breathe."

Richard Baker, Regional Director at Bullock, said: "It's great that we’re continuing our relationship with whg. This is our third project on their behalf in the last two years. They’re all Code 3 for sustainable homes and we’re all on schedule - the foundations are in and we’re coming out of the ground."
