Construction News Image
Morgan Sindall has completed a £19 million redevelopment project to regenerate Stockbridge Village in Knowsley, Merseyside.

The major scheme, undertaken for Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, has seen the village undergo a complete transformation since work started in 2010. The project has included the construction of a new primary school, a supermarket, a multi-use games area (MUGA), a library and a neighbourhood centre featuring leisure facilities, including a 20 metre swimming pool and high-tech gym. Old buildings have made way for new modern structures, facilities and services, all located around one central village square.

The development has formed a key part of a £25 million regeneration scheme led by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council in conjunction with local residents and partners, to transform the village into a vibrant and welcoming focal point for the local community.

Barry Roberts, Morgan Sindall area director for Liverpool, said: "This has been a complex and challenging project, but one that has been made possible through a close partnership with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council. The new facilities stand to bring about transformational change in the heart of Stockbridge Village, providing local residents with fantastic, state-of-the-art amenities.

"Morgan Sindall has considerable experience in successfully delivering multi-element regeneration schemes like this and, after two years, we’re delighted to see the local community reaping the benefits."
