Hillingdon Council has scooped two more prestigious Green Flags this year, bringing the current collection to 21 awards, one of the highest of all the London boroughs.
The esteemed Flags have been awarded to Breakspear Crematorium, Ruislip and Swakeleys Park, Ickenham. The latest Flag awards mean Hillingdon council has the second highest number of Green Flags out of all the London boroughs. The council has also successfully maintained Green Flag status for 19 other areas, which had achieved the accolade in previous years.
The Green Flags are a set of annual awards, presented each year to parks that have achieved the high national standard established for parks and open spaces. Each year, the winners must maintain their sites, in order to apply to renew their status.
Councillor Jonathan Bianco, Cabinet Member for Finance, Property and Business Services said: "We are extremely proud to add another two awards to our belt. Hillingdon is one of greenest London borough's and it is an outstanding achievement to have so many parks and open spaces that have been awarded Green Flag status."
