Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been appointed to a third framework agreement to assess the condition of, paint and refurbish Extra High Voltage (EHV) Towers.
The new contract with Northern Powergrid is worth circa £3 million per year.
The three-year framework agreement, with an option to extend for a further two, is being carried out throughout the north-east and Yorkshire. The framework is part of a wider refurbishment programme that will secure electrical distribution to 3.8 million Northern Powergrid customers.
This contract win is in addition to two other on-going frameworks that Interserve has with Northern Powergrid. Interserve is also currently contracted to undertake supply and installation of Extra High Voltage (EHV) cables as well as EHV wood-pole over head lines operating at 132kV, 66kV and 33kV.
Guy Bruce, Interserve Managing Director – Industrial said: "We are pleased to announce this additional framework agreement with Northern Powergrid. The project requires considerable engineering and technical skills, already proven with Northern Powergrid as well as our wider client base. We have worked in this field for over 90 years and are working alongside our client to ensure that Yorkshire and the north-east have a well-founded electrical infrastructure in place for the future."
