Four Crossrail worksites have won Considerate Constructors Scheme National Awards for their exceptional consideration towards the public, the workforce and the environment in 2011.

The VINCI Construction UK team at Connaught Tunnel and the Canary Wharf Contractors at Canary Wharf teams scooped silver awards. Morgan Sindall at Westbourne Park and Costain Skanska Joint Venture at Royal Oak portal snapped up bronze awards.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) is an independent, industry run initiative that assesses and monitors sites against a code of practice and commits them to being clean, respectful, safe, environmentally conscious, responsible, accountable and overall, a good neighbour.

More than 8500 worksites around the UK are registered with the CCS and only those that scored in the top 7.5% of all worksites were eligible for the awards.

Crossrail contractors are performing very well in the CCS, with the current average score per worksite at 35.2 out of 40 points during the site assessments. That’s well above the national average of 31 points and within the top 10% of scores nationwide.
