Kier Living has secured the contract to build the second phase of the Coastline Housing development at Consols in St Ives, Cornwall.
Mayor of St Ives, Ron Tulley, Kier Living development manager, Shaun Stapleton, Cornwall Council principal development officer, Jody Jeffrey and Coastline Housing project manager, Alison Johns, performed a turf cutting ceremony at the site on 23 March to mark the start of work on the construction of 27 new affordable homes for local people.
Alison Johns commented: "We are very pleased to be working with Kier Living on phase 2 of the Consols development and have successfully secured funding from the Homes and Communities Agency and Cornwall Council to ensure the delivery of these much-needed affordable homes for local people.
"Kier has considerable experience in building using the latest environmental technology and we are looking forward to drawing on their knowledge in this new relationship."
Jody Jeffrey added: "After the success of phase 1 Cornwall Council's affordable housing team were delighted when Coastline Housing approached us for a phase 2 at Consols. The planning application was approved without a single objection. St Ives has a very high level of housing need and these houses will provide sustainable and secure accommodation for 27 local households."
