Willmott Dixon has been appointed by Redcar & Cleveland Council to deliver a £31m leisure, business support and community facility in the heart of Redcar.
The project will bring first class facilities to the town and will include:
• a 6 lane, 25 metre swimming pool, training and leisure pool
• dance hall and performance space
• fitness suite and junior gym
• sports hall
• business space for small to medium sized enterprises
• flexible community facilities including a debating chamber and relocated register services
• improved and additional car parking
• landscaped public spaces.
Leader of the Council, Councillor George Dunning said: "The Council's ambitious regeneration plans for the borough are taking shape and the new leisure, business support and community facility in the heart of Redcar will create a real attraction for residents and visitors to the town. The scheme will help to support business growth in the area and 45 business units are being created as part of the development to meet existing and future demand.
"The Council's contractor have a sound track record of creating facilities that meet the needs of the community and the leisure scheme will include a unique attraction for the area - 'The Flowrider' a simulated water boarding facility."
