Architectural Stone - Specialist Stonemasons

Stonemasonry project using locally sourced welsh blue pennant stone in South Wales

Architectural stone (www.architecturalstone.biz) are specialist stonemasons, working on the soon to be finished Ebbw Fach Trail.

This is a walking and cycling route that has been constructed for the general public. It boasts to have a variety of countryside, heritage sites, nature reserves and is nearly 10 miles long. It forms a link to the communities on the route from Brynmawr to Aberbeeg. In conjunction with the Blaenau Gwent Council we are constructing markers at 13 of the locations with a locally sourced welsh blue pennant stone. The markers are built by our skilled stonemasons and consists of monolith stones to create the entrance way, with blue pennant cobbles acting as the walk way. Either side of the pennant monolith stones a wall has been constructed using blue pennant random walling. The markers contain corten steel signs so that the users can clearly identify they are on the trail and depending on the natural surroundings the design can slightly vary at the markers. However great effort has gone into making the markers as consistent as possible. See below for a photo of the works being carried out one of the 13 markers.
