Delegates who made a series of pledges at Peterborough's First Environment Capital Conference are being urged to do all they can to make them happen.

A large number of people who attended the summit made promises detailing how they - or their companies - would become greener.

Councillor Samantha Dalton, Cabinet Member for Environment Capital, who led the conference, said she hoped the pledges would lead to positive changes.

She said: "The conference was really well received and I was delighted that 160 delegates and 20 exhibitors attended.

"We heard from some truly inspiring speakers who really motivated delegates to make a public pledge over changing their lives to become sustainable.

"I really hope we can use the conference as a springboard for action.

"I will be personally following up on the pledges and finding out how people are getting on.

"If we can all make changes to our lives - and influence those around us - it will all help to continue the drive towards becoming the UK's Environment Capital."
