Lovell Installs Solar Panels

Lovell has installed solar panels on the roof of its Birmingham office.

"The amount of sustainable technology installations we’re doing for our housing association and local authority clients continues to grow at a steady rate so we thought it was about time we made the same commitment," said David Gough, regional director for Lovell in the Midlands.

The company has invested in 17 solar panels for the roof of its office in Halesowen. By completing the work before the Government’s cut in the Feed-In Tariff, Lovell will benefit from a reasonable level of payments from its energy provider for all the electricity generated and any electricity the company sells back to the grid.

Lovell estimates that the installation costs will be recouped in under six years and will provide around 25% of the electricity used in the office. It will also help protect the company against rising fuel costs in the future.

The system has 3.995kwp capacity and will yield around 3,300 KwH of electricity a year. For the company, it represents another step towards achieving its low carbon targets, with the electricity generated further reducing the office carbon footprint by approximately 1.8 tonnes per year.
