Our training days have always been popular and most recently we had twenty basement conversion contractors attending a full day training course in Birmingham which covered the BS 8102:2009 the British Standard for below ground waterproofing and is relevant in regards to basement waterproofing.
Everyone that attended the event found it extremely informative; for those who have been in the business for some time it acted as a refresher and for others it provided experience to them on the correct procedures.
The training course was held on Saturday and Andrew Latimer of the Wykamol Group said: "We are hoping that in the future we will hold more of these training days as they give the contractors a hand on experience."
At the event basement contractors had the chance to fit damp proof membrane and also learn about the jointing details so that they knew exactly what would be acceptable when fitting a damp proof membrane on a real project.
With more and more people choosing to stay put in their homes and improve rather than move there has been an increase in demand for basement conversions. Families need more space but cannot afford to move due to items such as high stamp duty.
The current economic climate has resulted in the above but as people make cuts in order to save costs one thing they shouldn’t do is go for a cheaper basement conversion contractor who may not work in accordance with BS 8102:2009 and thus his work may not be provided with an insurance backed guarantee.
We can help anyone seeking a basement conversion along every step of the way. However, if you are a basement contractor who is looking for training then please do contact us and we will advise you on our Training and CPD courses.
