Morgan Sindall Scoops £10m Contract To Develop Care Home

Morgan Sindall has won a £10 million contract to build the latest Royal Star & Garter care home for disabled service men and women.

The development in Surbiton features a three-storey building which will provide en-suite accommodation for 63 residents; all disabled men and women who have served in the armed forces, or are widows and widowers of former service people.

It will be constructed over a period of 18 months, with residents moving into their new home over the summer of 2013.

The home encompasses underground parking and will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including 26 specialist care rooms, which will allow for the provision of secure dementia care and, if necessary, interim care for younger disabled ex-service people.

The new home is located in a pleasant residential area, only five miles from the charity’s current home in Richmond, and will be set in landscaped gardens with mature trees.

John Homer, construction managing director for Morgan Sindall, said: "We are delighted to be working on this project which will provide these loyal service men and women with a modern, spacious place to live, as well as the use of first class nursing and therapeutic facilities.

"Morgan Sindall previously constructed the award-winning Royal Star & Garter home in Solihull in 2008, and we are looking forward to building on that success with this project."
