National contractor Shepherd Construction has secured a second London contract with Pantelli Associates, this time for the conversion of a warehouse into apartments.
The £1.38 million contract on Douglas Street, Pimlico, will see the contractor convert a four-storey warehouse into 10 apartments across five storeys.
This contract follows on the heels of a £27 million contract awarded to Shepherd by Pantelli Associates last year for the construction of 27 luxury apartments on Park Road near Regent’s Park which are due to complete in 2013.
Work on this second 29-week contract is scheduled to begin this month and will include excavating a deeper basement to create sufficient space for a triple car-stacking system, creating a central lift core wrapped around by a staircase, and repairing the fabric and external finishes of the façade.
Mark Tant, Shepherd Construction's Managing Director for the South Division commented: "We're delighted to be partnering with Pantelli Associates again. Our experience in delivering projects within tight urban spaces will come to the fore on this project and will involve a complex scaffolding design and an efficient delivery system being put in place particularly as the site lies within the Congestion Charge Zone."
