It is generally acknowledged that Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) is integral to today’s residential building specification.
MVHR is strongly encouraged by current Building Regulations and is considered essential for low-energy and Passive houses now, MVHR can provide Winter heating & Summer cooling, with the addition of a Ground Energy Intake Duct, which delivers natural heating and cooling energy, with no running costs!
The Ground Energy Intake Duct is laid at a depth of 1.5m, where ground temperatures remain at 7-12o all year round. The air supply to the MVHR Unit can therefore be 7-9o warmer than atmosphere in Winter and 12-14o cooler in Summer, with pollen filtration included. As a result, significant heating & cooling gains are enjoyed, carbon emissions reduced and comfort levels greatly improved.
