Plans For Arena Unveiled

The Council's Project Manager, Mace Ltd has submitted a planning application for the new multi-sport Arena on Pride Park.

The 156,000 sq ft Arena is to be built next to Pride Park Stadium and will include:
  • A 250 metre indoor cycling track and 1.5km outdoor closed cycle circuit
  • Fitness and wellbeing facilities
  • A sports infield the size of 12 badminton courts
  • Catering and hospitality facilities
As well as offering a wide range of sports, the Arena has been designed with an audience capacity of 5,000 which will allow Derby to stage cultural events, exhibitions and conferences.

"We have designed an iconic building which will compliment Pride Park Stadium, but will also function as a stand-alone facility," explained Mace Project Director, David Grose.

Claire Davenport, Director of Leisure and Culture said: "The multi-sport Arena will provide the city with fantastic modern facilities to be proud of and will form part of our lasting Olympic legacy for the people of Derby. Our commitment to transforming Derby’s leisure facilities will play a key role in the future economic growth of the city not to mention benefitting generations to come."
