National Grid has welcomed the announcement by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) on the next stage of the electricity market reform.

As part of the proposals, National Grid's system operator business will work with government, the regulator and the industry to deliver the capacity mechanisms and the feed in tariffs with contracts for difference.

Responding to the DECC announcement, National Grid’s executive director, Nick Winser, said: "We welcome this announcement and look forward to playing our part in delivering government policy on EMR. There is still a lot of work to do, but we believe we are well placed to deliver these changes that will help provide secure and reliable energy supplies into the future."
