Pupils studying construction at Pontypridd High School have visited Kier's construction site for Sainsbury's to see their chosen subject come to life.
Kier, which Sainsbury's has appointed to manage construction of the store, introduced students to the site with a safety induction before taking them on a tour of the grounds.
The pupils were delighted to have first-hand experience of construction, as the school has struggled to find many active sites to visit in the five years the course has been set up.
Construction started on the new Sainsbury;'s in September this year, with Kier expecting to begin installing the steel framework of the store this month.
Early next year, improvements will begin on the near A470 roundabout to improve traffic flow and provide a new entrance.
