TrustMark, the Government-endorsed quality mark for tradesmen, today announces the winner of its sponsored skills and training category - the National Federation of Roofing Contractors Limited (NFRC) for its innovative 'CompetentRoofer' campaign, which is a Competent Person Scheme (CPS) to raise standards within the roofing industry.
CompetentRoofer is the first and only Government-authorised CPS that allows registered roofing companies, who meet inspection criteria, to self-certify for Building Regulations on refurbishment roof work across both domestic and commercial sectors.
TrustMark was a sponsor of the 'raising standards in training and skills' category, which included two areas of entry - one for TrustMark scheme operators and the other for TrustMark retail partners to raise the standards within their sectors.
NFRC Chief Executive Ray Horwood, commented: "It is a great honour for us to win this prestigious TrustMark award at the NHIC ceremony, not only because it is at the UK’s premier housing event, but also because we have been recognised for our commitment to ensure high standards within the entire roofing industry. Competent Person Schemes are primarily about the Building Regulations but we wanted to go one step further and provide added protection for the domestic clients by making a free 10 year warranty compulsory for every notifiable contract. We set up the ‘CompetentRoofer’ in October 2010 to work with Local Authority Building Control to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and the benefits that this brings to building owners."
