Muse Developments and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) have submitted a detailed planning application to Swindon Borough Council for the first phase of regeneration at Union Square.

The application seeks approval for one residential building comprising 45 assisted living apartments, and a high quality 850 space multi-storey car park. This is following the outline planning application that was approved for the entire Union Square project on 8 November.

"This detailed planning application for the first phase of development is a significant milestone for the project and a precursor to a start on site in the spring of next year," said Doug Finlay, Development Director at Muse.

Peter Jones, HCA Head of area, added: "Union Square is an important project for us, as it aims to bring huge benefits to Swindon in the shape of housing, shops and offices. These in turn will bring new jobs, opportunities and better transport services.

"We have supported this project with significant investment and it is good to see that it has reached this stage. There is still a great deal to do, but we are committed to working with partners to support this exciting and important scheme for Swindon."

Union Square is a priority in Swindon's Local Investment Plan, which sets out the key projects requiring long-term investment and support from partners.
