Nearly a quarter of all deaths involving vehicles at work occur during reversing. Reversing can be dangerous in a workplace particularly when vehicles and pedestrians are both using a restricted space.
Reversing is often necessary where there are loading and turning areas, but it should be minimised and carefully controlled.
Working with moving vehicles is a high risk activity which causes significant numbers of major and fatal injuries every year in this country.
Last year, 17 workers were killed and more than 530 suffered major injury after being hit by moving vehicles while at work in Great Britain. Of these, two workers were killed and 130 received major injuries resulting specifically from contact with a reversing vehicle.
If operating a working environment that has a need for any type of reversing vehicle movements, then this half day course is to ensure firms are working towards a safer workplace and minimising the risks of harm to your most valuable assets, the employees.
