PA Group met with Building Magazine in the trendy bar, Brew Wharf, on London's South Bank to discuss the trials, tribulations and successes in the world of asbestos.
After a somewhat stressful day Director, Chris Miller-Hanna was only too pleased to chat to Joey Gardiner of Building Magazine over a beer or two. Extra input was provided by PA Group's surveyor, James Pullen and site supervisor, Tony Moss.
On speaking about the latest projects for PA Group, Chris explains that "the last few weeks things have gone a bit manic," not a bad thing in the current economic climate. It is a comfort really, showing that the need for asbestos surveying and removal is still in the forefront of building minds. Chris goes onto explain that the call for surveys and removal is not solely situated to London and the surrounding areas for PA Group. Some projects have taken surveyors to places as far as Dubai to survey moored super tankers.
The call for asbestos surveying is often a last minute, but crucial, part of the building process.
As Chris describes; it is sometimes a case that someone has "pushed the big red button on the project" and suddenly realised that no one has carried out the asbestos assessment, hence how things can get manic. Tony adds that the demand for PA Group’s services is not limited to asbestos surveying, but projects come in for other areas of the building world. In particular he describes the task of taping and sealing the train carriage left following the London bombings in 2007 so that it could be examined as a crime scene by the police he says, quite rightly, "it wasn’t a nice job."
The evening was finished off by the four engaging in an animated conversation about Kent vs Essex and the various football teams the guys support.
