Innovative Flame Curtain Product - Prevents The Spread Of Fire

In the event of a fire being able to create a safe exit route is of paramount importance. Intelligent automatic fire curtains provide the ideal solution for a number of applications including:

Commercial Kitchen servery hatches

Fire containment within building areas incuding restaurants, cafeteria areas within a school or department stores. Invisible when not in use, the Flame Curtain is automatically activated in the event of a fire alarm or power failure. This makes these fire curtains ideal as they do not hinder the aesthetics of a building. It also makes them an ideal system for commercial refit businesses and design and build companies and consultancies as it does not interfere with their objectives, whilst ensuring safety provisions are in place when it comes to the final fit-out.

Of course the Flame curtain can be fitted retrospectively in existing buildings.

How do Fire Curtains work?

When lowered or deployed the Flame Curtain divides up large open areas to hinder the spread of fire, slowing it down. This allows for a safe exit. Flame curtain is strong enough to contain a fire for two hours whilst still enabling occupants or visitors to have an escape route should this be required in extreme circumstances. This is achieved by simply lifting the bottom rail

to create a gap large enough to go under. The curtain then reseals.

Where is it particularly useful?

The Flame Curtain is particularly useful for large open plan offices and kitchen servery hatches in schools, canteens, department store cafes etc. The curtain provides boundary protection to prevent fire spreading to other premises eg, in retail parks and shopping centres. The flame curtain can also create greater protection at doors and contain a fire within a lift.

Installation Service

The fitting is neat and inobtrusive. The Flame Curtains design allows for a Face or reveal fit. The curtain must be fixed to appropriate masonry / concrete or steel supporting constructions that have a fire resistance of at least the period required.

The curtain is constructed of a stainless steel wire reinforced glass fabric and is powered by a 24v DC motor with FC Control panel. Full battery back up ensures functioanlity in the event of a power failure.

The box, guide rails and bottom rail are compact in size, meaning concealment is not a problem. Box size is only 200mm x 200mm and provides straight forward maintenance access.

B & L Shutters are able to fit these fire barrier curtains in schools, colleges, entertainment venues and sports stadia, exhibition halls and arenas, offices, open plan areas and shopping centres, canteens and food servicing outlets across the UK, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Leeds, Sheffield, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Swansea, Oxford, Nottingham, Liverpool, Bristol and Leicester.
