Mansell Scoops £1.6m Education Contract

Mansell has won a £1.6 million contract to construct a new sixth form block and music room for Aldenham School near Elstree.

The design and build project comprises the construction of a new two-storey music and teaching rooms and refurbishment works to the existing Pavilion building.

The new music and teaching rooms will feature an exposed green oak structural frame and extensive glazing to complement the existing buildings. A high acoustic performance is required to be met throughout. An innovative integrated photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof.

Refurbishment works to the Pavilion will include the provision of a new glazed entrance, servery and enlarged space for sixth formers.

The customers Project Manager is Cushman & Wakefield LLP, Architects for the project are Hub Architects, Quantity Surveyors Fanshawe LLP and the Structural Engineers the Michael Barclay Partnership.

Construction work starts on site this month and is due to complete in June 2012.
