Laing O'Rourke Flying High In Australia

Laing O'Rourke is helping provide the latest in airline catering, after being awarded the design and construction contract for a new Qantas facility in Brisbane.

Construction of the new catering centre, the first of its kind built for Qantas in 20 years, is now underway and is due to be completed by September 2012. A sod turning ceremony was held at the site of the new centre with Queensland Premier Anna Bligh, Qantas CEO Alan Joyce and Laing O'Rourke CEO Steve Hollingshead.

The scheme increases Laing O'Rourke's presence at Brisbane Airport, where its teams are building a nine-level car park, and the new access project between the terminal, Airtrain and car park. Laing O'Rourke also recently delivered the Common User Satellite access for Jetstar and Tiger airlines on the 'airside' of the terminal, with the work recognised at the recent Brisbane Master Builders' Awards.

The Qantas Catering Facility will include a new 8000m² building, 120-space car park, truck docks and associated works. It is located inside the main airport precinct, and adds to Laing O'Rourke's proud history of working with the Brisbane Airport Corporation on a series of projects over the past two decades.
