Residents and parents are invited to view the designs for new buildings at Orton Longueville School and Stanground College at public exhibitions taking place at both schools in July.
A public exhibition will take place in the main school hall at Orton Longueville School on Monday 11 July 2011 between 4pm and 8pm. A similar event will take place in the main school hall at Stanground College, Peterborough Road, on Tuesday 19 July 2011 from 4.30pm to 8pm.
At both events people will be able to find out more about the plans for both schools and view the designs for the new school buildings. Representatives from the school, the contractor Kier and the city council's project team will also be on hand to answer questions.
Jonathan Lewis, Peterborough City Council's assistant director for children's services, said: "These are exciting times for everyone connected with Orton Longueville School and Stanground College and new buildings will transform learning for existing and future pupils.
"I would encouarge people to attend the public exhibitions and give their views on the designs at this early stage. Comments that people make will be taken into account in advance of planning applications being submitted in early August."
Peterborough City Council has agreed to provide £34 million to rebuild Orton Longueville School and Stanground College. Building Schools for the Future funding was previously agreed to rebuild both schools but this was withdrawn by the government in the summer of 2010.
Work is expected to begin on-site in spring 2012 with the new Orton Longueville School opening in September 2013 and the new Stanground College opening by December 2013.
