Miller Construction has picked up a commendation at the recent Local Authority Building Control (LABC) awards.
The Sixth Form Centre for the Isle of Wight College was built by Miller Construction and designed by architects Pick Everard, and was commended in the category for 'Best Education Development'. The LABC Awards celebrate excellence achieved through building standards, technical innovation and sustainable designs.
The new 1,800 sqm purpose built Sixth Form Centre was designed to accommodate scientific and vocational courses in addition to mainstream academic subjects.
Steve Hart, Regional Managing Director - South East, Miller Construction, said: "We are thrilled to have received this commendation. At Miller Construction, we don't just build schools and colleges, we create ideal learning environments. These types of facilities not only help the pupils to learn, but enjoy learning, to the best of their abilities. Recognition in these types of awards reinforces that Miller Construction delivers first class, quality learning environments which will benefit the communities they serve for many years to come."
Peter Thompson, Assistant Principal, Isle of Wight College, said: "The Miller Construction team were brilliant and they really went that extra mile for us. We are just so pleased with our new Sixth Form building and the students love it too."
