Lovell in East Anglia have been recognised for development excellence on its Sherwell Court development in Norwich.

The project was undertaken on behalf of Saffron Housing Trust, in partnership with Broadland District Council and Norfolk County Council.

Sherwell Court provides specially designed flats for young disabled people, in which they can be independent. The flats have been tailored to help them cope with their disabilities.

Broadland District Council Leader Elect, Cllr Andrew Proctor, said: "As a council we are proud to have been part of the initiative that made Sherwell Court a reality and delighted that such an innovative project has been recognised as the very best in social housing. The development offers marvellous facilities for our young disabled people, which in turn gives them the independence and quality of life they deserve."

Lovell was awarded Best Social and Affordable Housing Project at the 2011 LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Regional Awards for the development in Hellesdon, Norwich. Another Lovell development at Stanningfield, Bury St. Edmunds was one of the four finalists in the same category.
