Mansell has won a £2.4 million housing contract in New Islington, East Manchester for Great Places Housing Group.

This is the third phase of the regeneration project that the team has secured.

The contract involves the design and build of 18 new timber framed homes, a mixture of terraced and semi-detached properties.

Built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, the homes will utilise air source heat pumps, low energy lighting and water saving measures, this will contribute to the reduction of residents energy bills.

The development will house all remaining residents who used to live in the area and want to return, as well as providing affordable housing for people who want to move to the regenerated community.

Work has just began on site and is expected to be completed in May 2012.
