Galliford Try, the housebuilding and construction group, announces that it has, in joint venture with affordable housing provider Home Group, been appointed preferred bidder on the £347 million Gateshead regeneration programme, one of the UK’s largest residential regeneration programmes.
The consortium, Evolution Gateshead, will form a regeneration partnership with Gateshead Council to build 2,400 homes for affordable tenures and private sale together with community facilities across 19 sites in Gateshead. All homes will achieve Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and will exceed Homes & Communities Agency space standards. Work is due to start following financial close later this year with the development programme phased to complete by 2026.
Galliford Try Chief Executive, Greg Fitzgerald commented: "I am delighted that Galliford Try will be working with Gateshead Council on the transformation of communities across Gateshead. We look forward to using our expertise in creating quality, sustainable housing on one of the UK's largest regeneration projects."
