New back-up electricity generators for Milton Keynes Hospital have now been delivered as part of a £2.2 million investment from Milton Keynes Partnership (MKP).

MKP has provided the money to Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust via the Milton Keynes Infrastructure Tariff in order to help the hospital develop essential infrastructure on site in order to support the expansion of healthcare facilities in line with the growth of the city.

Tim Roxburgh, Director of Milton Keynes Partnership said: "As Milton Keynes grows it is essential that the hospital and health care facilities grow alongside. These new generators will ensure the hospital's electricity infrastructure has sufficient capability and reliability for years to come."

Work on the generators is expected to be complete by spring 2011. Tariff funding has already contributed to work on the hospital’s road network providing better access and parking for patients and visitors.

Work to develop the hospital's infrastructure is one of the Acute Healthcare Priorities identified by MK Council, the hospital and MKP in the Milton Keynes Local Investment Plan.
