Outstanding standards of design and construction in the city are being recognised at Sunderland City Council's annual Building Excellence awards.
The awards ceremony organised by the Sunderland City Council's Building Control Service is being held at the Stadium of Light tomorrow (Thursday 3 February) 11.30am - 2pm.
The awards go to the most innovative construction projects completed by individuals and organisations within the city over the past twelve months in a number of categories.
The Building Excellence Awards will be presented by Portfolio Holder for Prosperous City, Councillor Bryan Charlton, who said: "The winners in each of our categories demonstrate the high quality of work being carried out in Sunderland and elsewhere, as a result of the strong partnership that exists between architects, contractors, developers and the City Council.
"This awards event will also help to showcase the innovation and excellence we have within our construction industry in the regional and national awards.
"All of the award winners at this year's presentation also go forward to the Local Authority Building Excellence regional awards ceremony held in April, with winners of any categories there put forward for the national awards held later this year in London."
Sunderland City Council Head of Planning and Environment, Keith Lowes said:
"This annual event gives us the chance to recognise outstanding achievements within the construction industry here in Sunderland, and past winners have gone on to regional and national success."
